Chapter 09
Forms and newsletter
The templates use Framer's own forms. For requests and sign-ups to reach you, you set once where they are sent.
Which forms there are
- A contact form on the contact page: name, email, message.
- A newsletter sign-up, usually in the footer and on the home page: email address.
Both are regular Framer forms. You can rename, add or remove fields like any other element.
Choose the destination
- Open your project's Site Settings and go to the section for forms.
- Choose where submissions go, for example to your email address or to a newsletter service.
- Do this for every form you use.
- Publish your site.
Which destinations Framer offers can change. You see the current list right in the settings.
Test
- Open the published site.
- Fill in each form once with your own address.
- Check that the message arrives, and look in your spam folder too.
- Check the message shown after submitting. It should greet your customers in your voice. You change it right in the form.
Newsletter: sign-up with confirmation
For newsletters, double opt-in is effectively required in Germany and Austria and good practice in Switzerland: whoever signs up first gets an email with a confirmation link. Only after the click may you send the newsletter.
- Most newsletter services handle this for you. Switch on confirmation there.
- Mention the service in your privacy policy (legal pages).
- Add a short line next to the field saying what people get and how often, for example "New flavours and offers, at most twice a month".
